MEET OUR PASTOR
Reverend Robert M. Alexander, Jr.
WHERE IT BEGIN
Reverend Robert M. Alexander, Jr. was born on January 8, 1957, in Birmingham, AL. He is the sixth child of Robert M. Sr. and Mary E. Alexander. Rev. Alexander confessed his belief in Christ at any early age. He was baptized at Faithful Few Baptist Church by the late Rev. E.J. Henry.
PAST EDUCATION AND EMPLOYMENT
Rev. Alexander was educated in the Birmingham Public School System. He also attended Jefferson State Community College. In 1976, Rev. Alexander enlisted in the U.S. Army where he served his country admirably for three years. Following his honorable discharge from the U.S. Army, Rev. Alexander was employed by O’Neal Steel. His honor and integrity before his fellow workers initiated their call for him to be the Financial Secretary and a Labor Negotiator for the United Steel Workers 3004 Labor Union.
THE CALL
Rev. Alexander accepted his call to Preach and Teach the Gospel of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ in 1980.Thus began his journey and God imbedded passion for sound Biblical and Theological education. After receiving the call from our Master, Rev. Alexander earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree from the Birmingham Bible College in 1993, a Master of Arts in Ministry of Pastoral Leadership in 1997 and did course work toward a Master of Divinity Degree from Birmingham Theological Seminary. Because of his faithful, humble and dedicated service to God, through his preaching and teaching, received an Honorary Doctorate of Divinity from the E.L. White Seminary in 2006.
HIS FAMILY
Rev. Alexander married Barbara Bettis in September, 1991. They have four children; Danielle, Antonio, Threese and Barbara. The Lord has blessed them with fifteen grandchildren.
CHURCH HOME
Rev. Alexander is a member of the Peace Baptist Church - Riley, where Rev. Andrew Turner, Jr. is his Pastor. He has served as the Pastor of the Elam Baptist Church for four years and Pastor of the Faithful Few Baptist Church for eleven years. In August 2004, he was called to be the Pastor of the First Missionary Baptist Church East Boyles where he has served faithfully.
MORE ABOUT REV. ALEXANDER
Rev. Alexander is a professor at Birmingham Theological Seminary. He serves as a member of the Board of Directors and on the Ownership and Linkage Committee. He also serves as the Academic Council of BTS for the Master of Arts in Ministry program as well as the Academic Committee of BTS. He is also a professor at the Birmingham Easonian Baptist Bible College.
He was formally the Moderator of the New Bethel District Association and Assistant Director of the State Congress of Christian Education. He is an instructor for the National Baptist Convention of American Congress of Christian Workers, and an instructor for the National Baptist Convention of the American Evangelical Board. He has served as President of the Village Spring Manly District Association Congress of Christian Education and as the President of the Congress of Christian Education with the New Era Progressive Baptist State Convention of Alabama, Inc. Pastor Alexander has served with distinction since 2016 as the President of the New Era Progressive Baptist State Convention of Alabama, Inc. He is also the 4th Vice President of the National Baptist Convention of America Internal Inc.
